Exclusive Interview With Musician Nathan Max
Musician Nathan Max is a force to be reckoned with in the modern entertainment industry. Nathan’s expertise in creating good music is rooted in years of consistency, hard work, and applied wisdom.
I spoke with Nathan a few days ago and asked him a few questions concerning himself and his journey to success. Luckily, Nathan shared all that he’s learned so far.
Here’s our chat;
Tell me about yourself and your music
My name is Nathan Max, and I’m an artist from Texas residing in Los Angeles. I sing and write my own music.
People describe my vibe as vibrant and emotional. If we’re talking genre, it’s mostly a blend of pop, hip hop, and alternative.
What inspired you to create your brand?
I grew up watching 80s music videos, so artists like Michael Jackson, Phil Collins, Madonna, and Prince inspired me to start doing my own thing; writing music and making art. It’s been my creative outlet since I was a twelve year old.
How can your music help people?
I want to make music that will help people get through their day at work, or even if we have to stay home in this quarantine.. I want people to feel like they can be themselves and go places they haven’t been before, emotionally.
What obstacles have you faced so far and how did you overcome these obstacles?
Making the move to Los Angeles alone at 18 was a pretty crazy move for me. I had to find my way and figure things out as an adult for the first time in my life. Eventually, I started meeting people out here who really challenged everything I believe, made me stand up for myself and get really clear about who I am.
How do you keep off stress and avoid burnout?
Meditation comes first! Like every good thing in life, it takes time for the effects of mediation to surface. I also strive to keep myself healthy mentally and physically by staying away from people who focus on the negatives of everything.
Another thing I’ve noticed that helps is listening to music that lifts me has always been like medicine.
Do you have any special talents or abilities besides what you shared that has helped you come this far?
Honestly living alone has pushed me to learn how to cook something up that holds a candle to LA restaurants.. on a budget! But on a more serious note, just being careful who I take advice from because having the ability to decipher constructive criticism from hateful comments can be a true talent.
